Commisioning a pet portrait

Getting the right photo

To commission a portrait you will need a good clear photo with bright lighting ideally taken outside. The best photos are taken at eye level with your pet and the eyes should be clearly visible as this is the part of the painting that has the most character.

I understand taking photos is not always an option but please be aware that the quality of the photo will directly effect the quality of the painting as some details will be missing.

I work directly from photographs and aim for realism through detail and aim to capture as much of each pets unique character as possible. I find that watercolour is a great medium to work with and I love watching each piece come to life.

Format

I offer three sizes for paintings A5, A4 and A3. Each portrait will be a watercolour painting with a white background. The standard painting will consist of the head and shoulders and there is the option to add extras like a favourite toy or the whole body.

The process

Once an order has been placed I will contact you via email you to get the chosen photos of your pet. It doesn’t have to be just one photo. Depending on the size and subject of the painting please be aware that the turnaround time can be up to four weeks once the painting is started.

Once finished I will send you a picture of the painting to review and make and last adjustments before getting it in the post.

Paying for your Pet portrait

Once the painting is complete and you are completely happy with it payment can be made via cash, bank transfer or cheque.
